The Importance of Posture in the Industry of Network Marketing

What exactly is posture and why is it important in our profession of Network Marketing?

First, let’s define the word “posture”.

Definition: “To assume a certain attitude or behave in a certain way, especially to make an impression or gain an advantage.”

The words I’d like to focus on in this definition are: assume, attitude, behave, impression, advantage.

In summary: Attitude and behavior is a mindset; impression and advantage are the results of the mindset.

So, in breaking down this simple definition, what does it mean for the Network Marketer.

My definition: “To take upon oneself (assume) a certain kind of mindset (of power/authority) that conveys strength or superiority.”

Your Primary Responsibility in Network Marketing

Your job as a Network marketing professional is not to go out and convince everyone you see about your opportunity.  Your only responsibility is to expose as many people to your opportunity as quickly as possible so that you can move on to the next person.  Do not, I repeat, DO Not! try to convince, cajole, persuade, coerce anyone into joining your business (Always operate from a position of power and strength).  Remember, you possess that opportunity that has already changed the financial situation of hundreds before you.

Remember…………

“A person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still.”

You’re not prospecting to get everyone into your opportunity.  Besides, if you have to persuade someone to join you in business, chances are, you’ll have to persuade them to roll-up their sleeves and actually get to work. This is Net-WORK marketing.  It takes lots of work and tenacity to build this business.  You DON’T want average people who are not willing to work.  You want movers, shakers, people who are not afraid to open new markets.  People who say, “come on, let’s go and get it done!  Let’s build this thing big!”.

So, as you go out into the market place, know this, you have in your possession a gift that has the potential to make a dramatic change in a person’s financial situation should they decide to run with you.

Posture up and don’t pay any mind to the ridicules, because they will come.  They’ll attack you from every angle that you can think of:  friends, family members, co-workers, people in general who have no idea what they’re talking about will seem to appear from nowhere. 

So, remember, posture is everything.

Start developing and strengthening your mindset to get that POSTURE.

Read!  Study! Learn!

Then apply those things.

Your business will flourish IF you have the intestinal fortitude to go on.

So DON’T QUIT!

You’ve gotten into a Network Marketing opportunity.

You’ve contacted your entire warm market list and managed to get a handful of your friends into the business and maybe acquired and few product users.

But now it’s dawned on you that you’ve no one else to contact.

So what do you do?

This is where the rubber meets the road.  This is where you put up your sleeves and venture out into the “cold market”.

Prospecting is the lifeblood of any Network Marketing business.

Without it your business cannot stand or survive.

At this point you can do one of two things:

  1.  You can quit and forfeit all that you’ve dreamed about accomplishing, or
  2.  You can acquire the necessary skills to continue to propel your business forward.

I hope you decided to push forward and follow through with your dreams of building an amazing business.  You can do this!

How To Develop The Necessary Mindset

Your resources to developing yourself into an amazing prospecting machine are endless.

There are many books that you can purchase that pertain specifically to this area.  You can find them on Amazon.

Now if your cash overhead is slim, no worries.  There’s a lot of free content on Youtube that you can peruse to educate and build your mindset in this area.

Start studying.  Start taking notes.  Start mastering the concepts of reaching out to people and asking them simple questions in regards to possibly starting their own business.

Here’s one of the many questions that I personally utilize when prospecting.

“Excuse me.  May I ask you a question?  Do you keep your options open in regards to creating extra income if it didn’t jeopardize what you are currently doing?”

If their answer is “yes”, great.  Get their phone number.

If their answer is “no”.  Don’t worry about it, it’s no big deal.

All you’re doing is looking for a quick “yes” or “no” answer and move on.

Your objective is to look for the “eagles” and not the “prairie chickens”.  Your objective is to sift through the numbers as FAST as possible.

You want shakers, movers, dreamers, doers, and trailblazers in your business.

Don’t forget this one major truth.  YOU are the CEO of your business, and you get to pick who YOU want to work with on YOUR team.

Put on the ALPHA attitude and start SHARING this amazing gift to those who will listen.

Remember!  This business isn’t for everyone.  And besides, you don’t want everyone in your business anyway.  Especially those who’ll need “babysitting” because they just don’t seem to have the necessary initiative to begin with.

So, in conclusion, don’t be afraid.  There’s nothing to fear.

Put your big boy pants on and start charging forward because it’s your life and you want to leave a legacy of drive and tenacity with those following behind you.

The Importance Of Personal Development

The practice of personal development in the ever challenging life of a Network Marketing professional is very key if success is ever to be achieved.

As a matter of fact, its been said that “the profession of Network Marketing is personal growth disguised as a business.”

Our profession is the only activity that puts the mind into a yo-yo effect in that emotions are forever changing.  From excitement to discouragement.  From victory to seemingly defeat.  The mind in this profession is forever being tempered and tested.

If a person’s mind isn’t daily exposed to positive material, the hopes of ever achieving personal goals in this industry will not come to fruition.

Why?…………

Because the human mind is designed to be afraid or fearful.  It’s a means of protecting itself from danger.  But all too often, I’m afraid to say that, most of our fears are often self-imposed, unrealistic, and given to us by our perception of what is.

There have been many people having lofty dreams for their family who have fallen by the way side because they have failed in the endeavor of developing their minds.

Developing Ones Mind Is Of Utmost Importance

There is a particular learning curve that comes with being involved in this amazing industry of Network Marketing.

For instance, learning to have the proper mindset when rejection is thrown at you can only be defeated if the mind has already been trained or conditioned for it.  There are and will be many situations in which those who have no idea of how this industry works will come face to face with.  This is where personal development steps in.

Furthermore, there WILL be days when making a call, prospecting, and following up just won’t be on the agenda.  Because the mind just won’t be right where it needs to be.  That’s why personal development is so crucially necessary.

How Do We Strengthen Our Minds?

For some, listening to audios/CD’s can be a means of development.

For some, listening to music.

And for others, reading a good book pertaining to our industry is what does the trick.

It really doesn’t matter how one goes about in training their mind.  It’s about exposing and feeding your mind on a DAILY basis.

Time Management Is For The Birds!

We hear a lot being taught about the importance of “time management” or learning

how to manage your time more effectively.  Is it really true that one can really manage

time to get the most out of it?  My answer to this question is a resounding, “No!”.  Time as

I understand it stands neutral and changes for no man.  It does not cater to the whims

and wishes of mortal men.  We cannot pacify it to do our bidding.  It does not slow down,

nor does it ever speed up for our own pleasure.  We all share the same unit of time for

living:  Sixty seconds to a minute, sixty minutes to an hour, and twenty-four hours to a

complete day.

We all have 1,440 minutes to work with on a given day.

“Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound. The man who does not shrink from self-crucifixion can never fail to accomplish the object upon which his heart is set. This is true of earthly as of heavenly things. Even the man whose object is to acquire wealth must be prepared to make great personal sacrifices before he can accomplish his object; and how much more so he who would realize a strong and well-poised life.”

So, is it possible to “manage” time?  My answer is still, “NO”.

So then, what are you suggesting, you might ask?

Here’s what I’m trying to convey:

Time is neutral in that it can’t be manipulated.

However, you as a physical being CAN be.

Instead of trying to manage time and find yourself frustrated because you can’t.  Why

not rather resort to managing YOURSELF, or as I call it “self-manipulation”.

“Yourself”….now this is manageable.  Why?  Because you are not neutral.  You are alive

and can be given to change.  You are forever in a state of changing (you determine the

direction).  At any given time you can decide to do or not do.  You can decide to be

mediocre and average, or you can decide to be successful in whatever you decide to do.

So, instead of trying to race time so to speak in trying to get things done, begin today by

managing yourself.  Use yourself more effectively in the time allotted (1440 minutes a

day).  When you do this, you’ll find yourself less frustrated with time and more fulfilled

because in reality you are in competition not with time, but with “yourself”.  Change the

way you think, and you won’t be far from revolutionizing your life.

Self-Resolution

Abraham Lincoln once said, “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing.”

What is the definition of resolution?

1. The state or quality of being resolute; firm determination: faced the situation with resolution.
2. A firm decision to do something: made a resolution to get more exercise.

b. A course of action determined or decided on: His resolution is to get up early.

Of all the personal traits to have personal resolution is one that is ranked up there where it needs to be if one is ever to accomplish anything in life.

You’ve heard the saying, “If you want something done right you’ll have to do it yourself.” Well, when it comes to wanting to be successful in any endeavor, I’m afraid this saying rings loudly true.

However, self-resolution or determination  is not something that people are born with.  I believe it is a learned behavior, and like any other behavior it can be mastered over time.

Begin to put this behavior into action one step at a time.  Be determined to get into physical shape by eating right and hitting the gym on a regular basis.

Begin a personal development regimen by reading books that build your mind instead of watching television or playing video games.

Begin watching your self-talk and be on guard when destructive thoughts of self- sabotage enter in and replace them with thoughts that are positive and constructive.

With practice all these can be developed over time.

Do it!  Because you can.

So you’ve joined a Network Marketing company.  You’ve marketed for a few months, prospected a handful of individuals, but haven’t sold any products or gotten anyone into the business.

And you’re starting to think that you might be in the wrong program and that its not the right one for you?

Are you thinking about getting into ANOTHER opportunity with “better” products?

Let me be brutally honest with you.  If you keep “jumping ship” every time you feel inadequate in a particular business because you feel you aren’t generating the income you think you should be, you will never be successful in any program.

Building the foundation of a successful downline requires patience, persistence, and bulldog like tenacity.  Commit yourself to at least 5 years of building.

People fail in this industry because they just don’t have the “stick-to-it-iveness” mentality.  They just don’t persevere long enough to see the fruit of their labor.

They become a part of the industry statistics of people who chase after “shiny objects” thinking that the grass is greener on the other side.

Here’s a bit of encouragement:  If you’ve joined a solid, credible, and outstanding program with great provable leadership, never ever quit until you see SUCCESS.

Continue and keep promoting like crazy. Jettison marketing tactics that don’t work and adopt systems that do.

Be patient. Be persistent.  And don’t ever take rejection personally.  You don’t need a thousand recruits to build your business.  You only need a handful who share the same ambition and goal of building a Network Marketing empire.

If you haven’t started implementing video marketing because of fear, it’s time to get over that because the future is here.  According to studies, 64% of marketers will be relying heavily on video marketing in the near future to dominate their particular space.  And quite frankly, I can see why that is.  90% of consumers would rather watch a video than read content through text.

The future is here.  Content marketing through video is where it’s at.  Every month YouTube caters to more than one billion viewers.  Obviously, video has a broader reach than any other type of medium.  It only makes sense that, every marketer should be utilizing this avenue to capture a part of that large market.

In an age of information overload, it’s important to offer content that can easily be digested by consumers; besides the fact that videos are naturally engaging.

 

The Enemy of Video Creation……….FEAR.

Attention marketer……….it’s time for you to step out of your comfort or fear zone and begin to think seriously about creating content through video marketing.  I’m quite aware that this can be a very daunting experience for some, but if you are to have a piece of the “pie” you’re going to have to get over your fear quickly.

There is always going to be a learning curve in any new undertaking.  Begin now to develop the necessary skillset in video marketing so that you can take your business to an entirely different and higher level.

Do it now!  Why?

Most Network Marketing Neophytes come into network marketing with the idea of setting the world on fire, which in a sense is an amazing goal.  However, reality is, if one has never been in our particular industry of Direct Sales, it’s going to be difficult for one to attain such feat if he has not learned a certain skillset(s).

As in every new undertaking, including Multi-level Marketing, there will always be a necessary learning curve.  Marketing skillsets will need to be developed if one is to be successful.

One of the essential skillset needed is POSTURE.

Posture in Network Marketing and How To Get It

If you have not yet acquired the skillset of POSTURE, here are some tips on how to get it:

  • Follow a particular leader in the industry whom you would like to imitate (Remember:  Success leaves clues).
  • Begin to read and study personal development materials in the area of leadership and be urgent about implementing the concepts you learn.
  • Surround yourself with people who have the same mindset of building an MLM business.
  • Continually watch the success stories (many of them on Youtube) of those in your particular company

The Temptation In Our Industry

As we peruse the internet we no doubt will come across many other seductive opportunities that will seem to be more promising than the opportunity you are currently building.

The compensation plan will seem more promising, the leadership, the products, and the opportunity as a whole will seem to be calling your name saying, “join me!”.

Here’s the catch, if you’re not fully convinced or committed to what you’re currently building, you WILL be sucked in. It’ll just be a matter of time.

However, if what you’re in right now never had a grasp on you to begin with, then may be you should consider getting into a program that fully sweeps you off your feet.

In the meantime, continue watching uplifting videos of your company, read material  pertaining to your company and industry, revisit testimonials of success stories regarding your particular company.

The Promise Of Our Industry

Remember, the system and modality of Network Marketing is effective, IF you are willing to “roll up your sleeves” and get to work.

If there are successful people in your particular opportunity, then there should be no question as to why you can’t be successful as well.

Our industry is not a “get rich scheme”, contrary to what naysayers often spout.

It is not an overnight gig where you get in and find yourself wealthy the next day.

It actually takes WORK, and LOTS of it.

However, if you are willing to “stick to your guns”, and commit long-term, and put in the necessary work as if you’re building an actual business, because you are, you’ll eventually get to where you want to be.

So, in conclusion, are you going to work your PRIMARY business like there’s no tomorrow, OR, are you going to continue to jump from one opportunity to the next, and the next, yada, yada, yada.  I believe you get what I’m getting at.

Make a decision, and do it quick.
